I’m Tom Springall, a Product Designer living and working in London. Currently at Sainsbury’s where I design, prototype, test and deliver high quality customer facing products in a highly collaborative product team.
I feel lucky to wake up every morning doing something I love and feel agitated when I am not learning or developing as a designer.
Senior Product Designer

Sainsbury's Chop Chop
Senior Product DesignerIn January 2017 I joined the Chop Chop team as a product designer. The team were initially based at Pivotal Labs, a digital consultancy where we learnt how to run effectively as a startup and learn best practices when it comes to working in an agile team. From March 2017 I was the sole product designer on the project, where I was in charge of conducting user research and facilitating all design decisions.
In June 2017 the project team moved back to the Sainsbury's head office where we taught and demonstrated our ways of working to the rest of the business.
I have helped drive the product to be a great and highly competitive service in the digital groceries convenience space. My involvement in the project has included:
- Working alongside Senior Product Managers and stakeholders, discussing strategic decisions that have helped shape Chop Chop
- Presenting to team members and senior stakeholders, guiding them through the flow, rationale and evidence that supports my design decisions
- Collaborating with our brand and marketing teams to ensure that what we are creating aligns with our wider ecosystem and brand proposition
- Taking the proposition through a brand refresh and a complete rebrand
